Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how your information is collected, used, and shared when you use the ShotGain mobile application ("the App").

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and a password. This is used solely for authentication and syncing your data across devices.

Location Data: When you start a GPS round, the App accesses your device's location to show your position on the golf course and calculate distances to the pin. Location data is only collected while you are actively using the GPS Caddie feature. We do not track your location in the background.

Golf Performance Data: The App stores your round scores, shot details (lie type, distance, club used), strokes gained calculations, and practice session data. This data is used to provide you with performance analytics and personalized practice recommendations.

Launch Monitor Data: If you import CSV files from launch monitors (TrackMan, Uneekor, GCQuad, etc.), the shot data from those files is stored to build your club dispersion profiles and improve AI Caddy recommendations.

Feedback & Course Mapping: If you submit feedback through the App, we collect the message content, feedback type, app version, and platform. If you submit a course mapping request, we collect the course name and GPS coordinates.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the App's features (GPS tracking, strokes gained analysis, AI Caddy recommendations, practice drills)
• To sync your data across devices when you are signed in
• To generate personalized analytics and practice plans based on your performance data

Data Storage

Your data is stored locally on your device and, when you are signed in, synced to our cloud database hosted on Supabase (powered by AWS infrastructure). Data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.

We do not serve advertisements and we do not use any advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs. We use a minimal crash and error reporting service (Sentry, described below) to monitor app stability — you can disable this at any time in the app via Profile → Settings → "Anonymous Crash Reporting." We do not share your golf data with any external analytics or marketing services. Your performance data is yours alone.

Anonymized club dispersion data (carry distances and lateral spread, with no personally identifiable information) may be used in aggregate to provide cohort comparisons for all users.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase — for user authentication and cloud data storage
• OpenStreetMap / Overpass API — for finding nearby golf courses (no personal data is sent)
• OpenWeatherMap — for wind and weather data during GPS rounds (only your approximate location is sent)
• Google Maps SDK — for rendering course maps on Android devices
• Apple Maps — for rendering course maps on iOS devices
• RevenueCat — for subscription management and purchase restoration (only your user ID is shared; no golf data is sent)
• Sentry — for anonymous crash and error reporting to monitor app stability. Sentry receives the device platform, app version, error stack traces, and an anonymous installation identifier. When you are signed in, your ShotGain user ID and email are attached to error events so we can correlate reports across sessions. No shot data, location data, or content from your rounds is ever sent to Sentry. You can disable this at any time in the app via Profile → Settings → "Anonymous Crash Reporting." Sentry processes data in accordance with their privacy policy at sentry.io/privacy and provides the same level of protection as described in this document.
• Expo / EAS — for app delivery and over-the-air updates (no golf data is sent)

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as you maintain an active account. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Local data on your device can be cleared by uninstalling the App.

To save storage on your device, the App automatically removes GPS coordinates from rounds older than 90 days on your local device. Your cloud backup retains the full data. Practice session logs are capped at the 200 most recent entries.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data — available directly in the app via Profile → Delete Account, or by emailing us
• Withdraw consent for anonymous crash reporting at any time via Profile → Settings → "Anonymous Crash Reporting"
• Export your data

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy within the App and updating the "Last updated" date above.
